In my role, I develop high-value invention marketing materials for distribution to potential licensing partners. Through my close collaboration with Licensing Managers, I have engaged with all aspects of technology commercialization including triaging invention disclosures, conducting market analyses, and negotiating commercial agreements. I have built relationships with faculty, staff, and Mass General Brigham stakeholders.
Mass General Brigham Innovation is the largest technology transfer/business development office in the nation. The 140-person Mass General Brigham Innovation team is tasked with globally commercializing the innovations and unique capabilities of the system's 80,000 employees and faculty. Its exclusive roles include industry collaboration, investment, international consulting, start-up creation, licensing, and managing innovation.
Selected as one of 25 fellows from a global search, I was immersed in learning the structure and strategy of the business development team at Genentech (Roche). In collaboration with my team, we landscaped new TA in neuro/optho through performing S&E, due diligence, and financial modeling. We analyzed over 40 assets to identify the top licensing opportunity and presented findings to Genentech’s BD team onsite.
This 6-week mini-course aimed to expose BU graduate students to important business considerations of the biopharma industry including market access, R&D strategy, and the biotech investing landscape. Through collaboration with my co-organizers, we got speakers from Vertex, Eli Lilly, RA Capital, and additional top-tier organizations to share their insights with us.
